Everything LayFlip does
LayFlip fixes words typed in the wrong layout, flips text on double Shift and knows when to stay out of the way. Here is every feature, grouped by the moment you need it.

- Fixed when the word ends
- Finish a word with Space or punctuation and LayFlip erases it, types it in the right layout and switches your input source. Keys you press during the fix are held and land in the new layout.
- Enter sends what you see
- Enter, Tab, Esc, arrow keys and clicks never trigger a fix. A chat message goes out exactly as typed.
- Reads the words around
- Word lists of up to 100,000 words per language and letter statistics decide each word. Short, ambiguous words are judged together with the next one, and the language of the previous word counts too.
- Leaves code and names alone
- Words with digits, @, _, :// or camelCase stay as typed, as do built-in names and slang like jwt or ок.
- No guessing between similar alphabets
- Layouts that share an alphabet, like Russian and Ukrainian, never switch on their own. Flip them with double Shift.
- Keeps accents
- Accent keys count as part of the word: P;oses becomes Πόσες. Right after a switch LayFlip joins the accent with the next letter, so no bare accent mark is left behind.

- Undo in one move
- Press Shift twice before the next word and the fix is reversed: text and layout go back to how you typed them. LayFlip adds the word to Never correct and leaves it alone from then on.
- Flip any word or selection
- Double Shift flips selected text, the word you are typing or the last word you typed, then switches the layout. It works between any two enabled layouts, Russian and Ukrainian or Macedonian and Serbian included.
- Mixed text stays intact
- In a selection each word is judged on its own: words already in the right layout, like iPhone, stay untouched.
- Your clipboard stays
- Where an app can't replace text directly, LayFlip copies and pastes, then puts back whatever you had copied.
- Change case
- Each press cycles UPPER, lower and Title case for the selection or the last word, without touching the layout. Turn it on and pick a key in Settings.

- Switch layouts with one key
- Tap a modifier to move to the next enabled layout, like Alt+Shift on Windows. Off until you pick a key.
- Any key for any action
- Convert, switch and case each take Shift, Option, Command, Control or a pair like Option+Shift. A single key can be double press or right key only, so the left one keeps its usual job.
- No accidental triggers
- A press doesn't count if another key or a click came in between, so shortcuts and capital letters work as usual. Double-press speed is 200, 300 or 450 ms.
- Layout next to the cursor
- After any layout change, a small badge like RU or EN appears next to the text cursor for a second and a half. It shows where the app reports the cursor position; many Chrome and Electron fields don't.
- A sound on the first letter
- A short sound plays on the first letter typed in a new layout. Off by default.
- Your own word lists
- Never correct holds words LayFlip should leave alone. Always correct to makes it fix words it wouldn't fix on its own, like a name it doesn't know.

- Autocorrect on, keys only or off. Switch the app in front from the LayFlip menu, and manage the list in Settings.

- Search Everywhere keeps double Shift
- In JetBrains IDEs and Android Studio double Shift opens Search Everywhere as always: LayFlip lets it through.
- No lost letters in Slack or Discord
- In Electron apps LayFlip types a fix a little slower, so every letter arrives.
- Warns about other switchers
- If another layout switcher is running, LayFlip suggests quitting it, so words aren't fixed twice.

- Words are checked against dictionaries built into the app. No analytics and no account.

- Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and Persian are fixed on their own when paired with English.

- Knows word forms
- Hebrew, Arabic and Persian words are recognized with their prefixes and endings, Greek words with or without accents.
- Apple and PC layouts
- Tested on the standard Apple layouts, Russian-PC and Ukrainian-PC included. Third-party layouts are recognized by their letters. With two English layouts enabled, LayFlip fixes into the one you used last.
- No input methods
- Japanese, Chinese and Korean input methods aren't supported.
Lives in the menu bar
- Status at a glance
- The menu bar icon turns into ⚠︎ when something needs attention and greys out when autocorrect is off. The menu says what's wrong: missing permissions, Secure Input, only one layout enabled.
- Guided setup
- On first launch LayFlip asks for Accessibility and Input Monitoring, with buttons that open the right pane of System Settings, and gives you a field to try ghbdtn and Space.
- Automatic updates
- LayFlip checks for updates once a day. Updates are signed, and the check sends only the app version.
- Opens at login
- One menu item starts LayFlip with your Mac. Off by default.
- English or Russian interface
- The app follows your system language, or you can pick English or Russian in Settings.
- Light on your Mac
- Under 50 MB of memory and next to no CPU when idle. Only the languages of your enabled layouts are loaded.
